I recently made an advertisement for YouTube in order to increase awareness of my music. Now, it has been released and I've linked to it below. It's been up for a day, so I'll tell how it went, down below. So, how did the ad do? I'll tell you. Now, my budget for the entire campaign is going to be $25 and last for 3 months. Last night, I paid Alphabet (YouTube and Google's parent company) $0.28, and bid $0.03 per ad. YouTube showed this ad in front of a video 128 times. 19 people clicked on the ad, giving the video a click rate of 15%, which is 15x larger than what I expected it to be. Also, at 28 cents, that's only about 2 cents per ad. I know this seems like a lot of words, so here's a table summarizing my expectations versus reality:
As you can see, this turned out much better than what I was hoping. But in reality, what I need to know is how many people bought it. And I won't know that for another 3 months. I honestly don't care if anyone has bought it this early, but I'd like to see at least one album sold by tomorrow. But, that's typing for one day. I hope you enjoyed this interesting look at marketing, and good night.
